Special Attack
Seifer Almasy has a few unique special attacks in Final Fantasy VIII, primarily used during his boss battles. Unlike Squall, who has a full Limit Break system, Seifer’s attacks are more limited but powerful.
Seifer’s Special Attacks
1. No MercyDescription: Seifer slashes the enemy multiple times, finishing with a powerful energy projectile.
Notable Use: Used in later boss battles when Seifer is under Ultimecia’s influence.
Effect: Deals heavy non-elemental damage to a single target.
2. Demon Slice
Description: It functions similarly to a powerful Firaga spell but is exclusive to Seifer.
Effect: Essentially a Firaga-tier fire attack but with an added visual effect—a fiery whirlwind surrounding the target before impact.
3. Bloodfest
Description: Seifer raises his Hyperion Gunblade, charges it with fire magic, and slashes the enemy in a flaming cross pattern.
Notable Use: Used in several boss fights against Squall and the party.
Trivia: This attack resembles Squall’s Renzokuken but is infused with fire magic.
4. Seifer’s Attack Against Odin – "Zantetsuken Reverse"
During Seifer’s final solo fight against the party in Lunatic Pandora, there is a shocking moment where he defeats Odin, the legendary summon who usually performs an instant kill on enemies. This is a unique scripted event in Final Fantasy VIII.
Zantetsuken Reverse - How It Happens
If the player has acquired Odin from the Centra Ruins, he will appear randomly in battles to instantly slice enemies in half with Zantetsuken. When fighting Seifer in Lunatic Pandora, Odin will appear automatically at the start of the fight.
As usual, Odin charges forward with Zantetsuken, attempting to cut Seifer down. However, Seifer smirks and slashes back with his Gunblade, splitting Odin in two instead! This marks Odin’s permanent death, and he can no longer appear in battle.
Gilgamesh Replaces Odin
After Seifer "defeats" Odin, a new summon, Gilgamesh, appears later. Gilgamesh takes over Odin’s role, but with four possible random attacks:
Zantetsuken (Instant kill)
Masamune Slash (High damage)
Excalibur (Moderate damage)
Excalipoor (1 damage)
Funfact: Seifer’s counterattack doesn’t have a name, but fans often call it "Zantetsuken Reverse" since he turns Odin’s own move against him.
