Despite both wielding Gunblades, Squall and Seifer have different fighting styles. Squall uses his Gunblade with both hands, while Seifer prefers a one-handed approach. Character
Seifer Almasy is a man of contradictions: arrogant yet charismatic, reckless yet fiercely determined. He is a born leader, but his impulsiveness often turns ambition into self-destruction. Though he stands in direct opposition to Squall Leonhart, his greatest rival, the two share undeniable similarities. Both are highly skilled gunblade specialists, yet where Squall is disciplined and reserved, Seifer is brash and outspoken. He thrives on defiance, challenging authority and rejecting the rigid structure of Balamb Garden. While Squall isolates himself, Seifer surrounds himself with Raijin and Fujin, a duo that stands by him despite his flaws.Seifer sees himself as a hero: One destined for greatness. His dream of becoming the Sorceress’ Knight is not just about power, but about purpose. He longs for a life beyond the monotony of SeeD, one where he can carve his own path and be remembered as something more than just another soldier. However, his relentless pursuit of this dream blinds him to the reality of his actions. Under the influence of Sorceress Edea, Seifer’s ambition twists into fanaticism. He embraces his role with unwavering devotion, unable (or unwilling) to see how much of himself he has lost in the process. Yet, the extent of his control over his own fate remains uncertain. Is he truly manipulated, or is he choosing this path of his own free will?
Despite his arrogance and harsh demeanor, Seifer is not devoid of humanity. He is the first to congratulate the newly appointed SeeDs, even though he himself failed. When he hears that a small group of cadets has been sent on a dangerous mission with no clear strategy, he rushes to their aid, disregarding his own standing. These moments reveal a side of him that is often overshadowed by his rebellious nature—a sense of camaraderie, even if he refuses to acknowledge it.
Seifer Almasy is not a villain in the traditional sense. He is a young man trapped by his own ideals, desperately chasing a vision of glory that may never have been his to claim. His story is one of ambition, pride, and ultimately, the painful realization that not all dreams lead to the future one desires.
