Luka, the water priestess
Luka may appear much younger, but she has actually been alive for around 200 years. She has spent much of that time in the Water Palace, watching over the Water Seed and keeping an eye on the state of Mana. Her long life also makes her one of the few people who has witnessed how the world and its connection to Mana have changed over the years. For Randi, Luka becomes an important source of information during the early part of his journey. He returns to the Water Palace several times, and Luka helps him understand what is happening and where he needs to go next. Her guidance gives Randi a clearer idea of what lies ahead before the story eventually shifts his attention toward Sage Joch.
The peaceful life of the Water Palace does not last forever. The Empire eventually arrives with Geshtar, who is after the power of the Water Seed. Luka is caught up in the conflict and the palace is no longer the quiet sanctuary it once was. Randi has to face the Empire and make sure that both Luka and the Water Seed are safe.
The guide
Luka seems to share a strange connection with Randi that the game never fully explains. Even when they are apart, she is somehow able to reach him and communicate with him. Whether this has something to do with the Water Palace, the power of the water itself, or Randi's growing connection to Mana through the Mana Sword is never made completely clear.During the first part of Randi's adventure, Luka is one of the people he can rely on for guidance. She helps him understand what is happening and gives him an idea of where he should go next. Eventually, she sends him toward Sage Joch, leaving Randi to continue his journey without her guidance.
Luka's story does not receive much attention after that. When the Empire returns to the Water Palace, she is captured and kept there while they attempt to take control of the Water Seed and break its seal. After these events, the game never really explores her connection with Randi any further.
This leaves one interesting question unanswered. Did Luka know something about Randi's past that she never told him? The game never gives us a clear answer. Her unusual connection with him is simply left as one of the smaller mysteries surrounding Randi and his origins.
