Princess Elle is first encountered by Ark in the throne room of Loire Castle, where she sits silently beside the king. This silence is not just a simple choice but a symptom of deep trauma. Her parents were murdered by the very king who now adopts her, and her home village of Storkolm was destroyed under his orders.
Princess Elle's mutism is a direct result of the extreme trauma she endured. Losing her parents and being forcibly adopted by their killer places her in a state of psychological paralysis, where she is unable to speak or express herself. Her silence becomes a symbol of her internal suffering and her resistance to the world around her, especially towards the king who seeks to control her. The king's promise to marry her off to anyone who can make her speak further objectifies her, turning her trauma into a public spectacle. The impact of these events leaves her mute, a state she maintains until Ark, with the help of Mei-Lin's illusion, manages to break through her psychological block. The illusion causes her to see her parents, triggering a reaction that finally ends her silence.

Her initial interactions with Ark are minimal, as her silence and trauma keep her emotionally distant from everyone around her. This distance adds to the intrigue of her character, making her a figure that Ark and the player are drawn to understand.
